Remake-Remake
Ekk Deewana Tha is written and directed by Gautham Menon who is a well known film maker in south India. EDT is a remake of Gautham’s own Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. This critically acclaimed film is considered among the finest works of Gautham Menon. He even directed the Telugu version of the film titled, Ye Maaya Chesave.
No Taj Mahal
A. R. Rahman wanted to launch the music of the film at the Taj Mahal but the filmmakers couldn’t get permission from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The ASI had reportedly denied permission citing the damage done during the shoot of a song in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Later, the music of Ekk Deewana Tha was unveiled by Rahman along with the director and star cast of the film against the backdrop of Taj Mahal on 21 December 2011.
Divine Intervention?
The hit song Hossana from the film had its share of controversy when a certain group from the Christian Secular Forum (CSF) in Mumbai raised strong objection to the word ‘Hosanna’ in the song. According to the forum, the word is a sacred term used within hymns.

Too Hot!
Prateik and Amy Jackson have been in the news for their sizzling chemistry in the film and now the film’s team is concerned about the Censor Board’s reaction to the scenes. Reportedly the director has said that they may tone down or edit the scenes.
Valentine’s Day
In an attempt to promote the film Prateik visited MMK College Bandra on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2012. The actor stood outside the college and handed roses to the girls! Quite a romantic, we must say!
Recycled Songs
The music of Ekk Deewana Tha is composed by A.R. Rahman. The songs are adapted from the Tamil version of the film.
Words
Noted screenplay writer Javed Akhtar has supervised by the screenplay of the film; he has also written the lyrics for the film.
Busy Dhobi
The shooting of Ekk Deewana Tha was supposed to start in late 2010 but Prateik was busy with the promotions of his film Dhobi Ghat. EDT finally went on floors in April 2011.
Debut Star
Amy Jackson, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film is a successful English model and won the Miss Liverpool competition in 2009.
How Does It End?
The original Tamil film, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, did not have a happy ending while the Telugu version, Ye Maaya Chesave, ended in a lovey-dovey way.
