Akshay Kumar is going to be presenting Bhumi Pednekar’s next, which is an all-out thriller, titled Durgavati. And now, Akshay has revealed that he had himself spoken to Bhumi and requested her to take up the role. For those of you who are not updated, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar have worked together in the much loved film, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
And now, speaking about Durgavati, Akshay has been said, “I thought it was an IPS female’s role and I thought Bhumi would fit the bill well. I wanted a girl-next-door kind of image and Bhumi is someone who can pull off any role with ease. So I requested her.”

Further speaking about the film to the Asian Age, the Holiday actor said, “I have done many such films where I have presented it. This will be my first film not being an actor.”

Titled Durgavati, the film is touted to be a thriller and is set to go on floors by January 2020. The film is directed by Ashok – who has also directed the Telugu hit Bhaagamathie. While there are speculations of Durgavati being a remake of the Telugu film which featured Anushka Shetty, Unni Mukundan, Jayaram, Usha Sarath, Vidyulekha Raman in lead roles, there is no official announcement regarding the same yet.
The announcement of the film was made by Akshay Kumar, when the actor Tweeted, “EXCITED to announce @bhumipednekar in & as #DURGAVATI. A scary-thriller, going on floor mid-January. Presented by #CapeOfGoodFilms and @itsBhushanKumar, produced by @vikramix and directed by Ashok. Need your love and luck @TSeries @Abundantia_Ent.”
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of Good Newwz alongside Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani, while Bhumi Pednekar just had a release in Bala which also featured Ayushamnn Khurrana and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
