Diwali Releases: Speculation Over Opening Response

As the countdown to the two big Diwali releases has begun, speculation is at its peak in the trade about which of the two – Golmaal 3 and Action Replayy – would take a better opening. Golmaal 3 has the advantage of the Golmaal brand. Thanks to the appreciation Rohit Shetty and Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision’s Golmaal and Golmaal Returns generated, the trade people seem to be convinced that the third in the series would take a fantastic opening.

It may be mentioned here that two years back, Golmaal Returns had taken an exceptionally brilliant initial in the Diwali week. However, Golmaal (in 2006) had started slow but had picked up owing to positive word of mouth. The advantage Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy has is that its songs are climbing the popularity charts. Besides, Akshay Kumar starrers generally open very well. What’s more, Akshay and Vipul together have had a good track record so far. And, of course, there’s also Aishwarya Rai in the film to lure the audiences in.
