And it comes as a no shocker that she has replaced the supremely talented Priyanka Chopra in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next.
A few months ago, title Gangubai was registered with Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA). During that time the rumours suggested that SLB is planning to reunite with Priyanka Chopra. Also, the actress earlier confirmed that she is in talks with the filmmaker for the project. But now it seems like that the shelving of Inshallah has turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Alia with her name being finalized for the lead role as she already sorted her dates for Inshallah.
The proclamation from the makers is expected to come out soon.
A trade source revealed, “After the Inshallah fiasco, where he decided to can the film, Bhansali has been under pressure to quickly announce his next. He has also lost a lot of money when he shelved the film, and he has Alia’s dates with him and asked her not to give them away. His writing work on Gangubai is more or less complete, and we expect an announcement soon from him,” reports Deccan Chronicle.
