Wrapped in a bloody snakeskin dress, Dia Mirza speaks out for wild animals in the new PETA ad. “Skinning animals alive or beating them to death for a pair of boots or a purse cannot be justified. By choosing widely available fake snake and mock croc, you can pay tribute to these animals’ beauty without stealing their skins and killing them,” says Mirza, an ardent People for Ethical Treatment of Animals supporter.
Snakes, alligators and other exotic animals suffer greatly before their skins are turned into shoes, bags and other products. The animals are left to die after they are skinned. And the petite actress isn’t saving her love for pets for off-screen events only. She promoted the adoption of homeless dogs in her film, Love Breakups Zindagi, for which she her production house, Born Free Entertainment, was honoured with a Hero to Animals Award.
Actors like Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, Mallika Sherwat, Joaquin Phoenix, Kate Winslet and others have offered their support to PETA as well.
