After months of speculation, Ali Zafar‘s next film has a title for itself. The irony of the matter is that after launching online hunts and spreading word in the industry for a new title, director David Dhawan has now settled for the original – Chashme Buddoor.
“When the film was launched around a year ago, David sir was sure that he wanted something new for the film. He also felt that the title had to be fresh and the kind that youth of today could comfortably relate with. Chashme Buddoor sounded good 30 years back when the Farooq Sheikh-Deepti Naval-Rakesh Bedi-Ravi Baswani starrer was made but going by the current trends, Dhawan felt that something far more contemporary and youthful would be a better bet. He was even open to an English title as long as the essence of Sai Paranjpye directed film was intact,” informs a source.
This means that there was no title for the film even when it was being shot with Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma (of Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame) opposite south star Tapsee. Meanwhile David’s friend Anupam Kher (who would also be seen in a triple role in the film) reached out to social networking for a new title and even announced an ‘offer’ of Rs. 25,000 and an invite to the film’s premier.
With the producers finalising the release plans for the film to arrive in August, David Dhawan had to take a quick call. This is when all plans for a new title were dropped and a mutual call between all involved was taken to keep the original title for the film.
When contacted, David Dhawan confirmed that the film would now be called as plain and simple Chashme Buddoor. In fact the film’s First Look is all set to be unveiled and there are mega plans to unveil Tapsee for an all-India audience. Meanwhile Ali Zafar is expected to join the team soon for the film’s promotion.
