For years, fans and followers of David Dhawan have hailed filmmaker’s Aankhen and Shola Aur Shabnam as two of his best films. Though he hasn’t touched ‘masala’ entertainers like these in the recent films, including the recent release Chashme Baddoor which has turned out to be a commercial success, David Dhawan would be firmly returning to his roots with Main Tera Hero.
“The film has Varun Dhawan as the central protagonist and David has made sure that the film isn’t just a laugh riot,” informs a close associate of the family, “Of course he is rooted in comedy and has more than a couple of dozen films belonging to that genre turning out to be a hit with the masses. However he wants to lend ‘Main Tera Hero’ the true flavour of a full spread ‘thali’.”

This means that the film would see everything from romance, action, drama, thrills to of course humour, something that was the hallmark of Aankhen and Shola Aur Shabnam, both Govinda starrers.
“The setting would be contemporary and the mood youthful; obviously that has to be the case since Varun is in the lead. However unlike the No. 1 series that gave David a lot of successes, especially during the 90s, Main Tera Hero won’t rely just on humour. He is giving ample time to the film before it goes on floors in July. Varun too is going through the drill by training and working out for hardcore dance as well as action moves. The film’s script has ample dramatic moments and twists and turns to present him as a complete hero, something that would also be true to the title”, adds a source.
When contacted, David Dhawan said, “Well, at this point in time, all I can say is that those waiting for Aankhen and Shola Aur Shabnam can brace up to witness the flavour of these films, albeit set in the contemporary world. I am all charged to get going on it.”
