
Author Chetan Bhagat is all set for the release of his upcoming novel, One Arranged Murder. While promoting the book, the writer opened up about the impact of negative press on Sushant Singh Rajput. Read on to know what he said.
Sushant’s debut film Kai Po Che was based on the author’s novel, ‘The 3 Mistakes of My Life.’ Bhagat said that he was supposed to work with Sushant in Half Girlfriend, but the actor opted out.
During a recent interview with Times Now, Chetan Bhagat opened up about the impact of negative press and blind items had on Sushant Singh Rajput. He said, “They broke him, the media reports broke him. It mattered to him when they called him a TV actor.” He added, “When you have allegations that he had done things to women without consent that is devastating for a man.”

Chetan Bhagat added that initially he too was affected by negative press, despite being a top author in the country.
Bhagat credited Sushant Singh Rajput and director Abhishek Kapoor for giving his film career a boost. The writer said, “No one wanted to produce Kai Po Che as it was based on Godhra riots in Gujarat. Then Abhishek decided that we will get newcomers in the film. But even for Sushant, it was a very risky move as it wasn’t a love story or there was no lead in particular,” he said.
Talking further Chetan said that till 2017, ‘Sushant was fine’. The writer said that questions pertaining to Sushant’s mental health can be answered better by a qualified psychiatrist. He also added that the Rajput he knew was quiet and had an adorable ‘gullibility’ to him.
