#BoycottToofan: Farhan Akhtar has been making headlines for quite some time now. After becoming a meme material and being called out by Union Women and Child Development minister herself during the CAA protest, today he made news for the first look of his next film Toofan directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
But seems like the CAA controversy is not leaving him anytime soon as #boycotttoofan is trending and some Twitterati are asking for the film to be banned pertaining to his comments on the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Talking about his comment, Farhan who actively participated in the protest against CAA that the actor felt was a wrong move by the government. During a media interaction, he said, “As a citizen of the country and as somebody who was born and has grown up with a certain idea of India is, it is important for me to raise my voice… If everything was ok, why would so many people turn up? Not just in Mumbai, but Delhi, Assam, Bangalore, Hyderabad.”

This triggered a meme fest and was soon even shared by Smriti Irani. Now as he shared the first look people started reminding of his comment and want a reply on that. This rage has given birth to a trending hashtag and it hit the top in no time.
While a user wrote, “We are not interested in your movies anymore as a peaceful non religious protest against #ISupportCAA . Boycott #Toofan . Let show these pseudusecular our soft power. Jai Hind.” Other wrote, “#Toofan nahi aayega… remember people he is the same person who
doesn’t respect the law of land (know it even), please boycott the movie andsponsor associated with it … #AwaitingBefittingReply.”
