This January 18 will see Inkaar, a Sudhir Mishra movie, release countrywide. It stars the Ra. One bad guy Arjun Rampal as Rahul Verma opposite the Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi  lady, Chitrangada Singh as Maya Luthra.

Officially it has been said that the writer’s credit goes to Sudhir Mishra himself but if we are to consider rumours, many industry – insiders are of the view that Inkaar is an unofficial remake of the December 1994 Barry Levinson movie Disclosure which starred Demi Moore opposite Michael Douglas.

Now “remake” is a harsh word to be used. We will stick to wondering whether the Disclosure script has been a source of thorough inspiration for Inkaar.

Disclosure revolved around the story line depicting  a married tech personnel at a firm being legally charged by his boss who is also an ex–lover of his, on grounds of sexual harassment. Sounds a tad bit familiar? You are probably thinking of the November 2004 Abbas Alibhai Burmawala and Mastan Alibhai Burmawala movie starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor and the raunchy (as per the film) Priyanka Chopra, Aitraaz.

Of course, whether Inkaar has been copied or inspired is yet to be known for sure, but Aitraaz ended up being a very shabby version of Disclosure. Aitraaz showed a gross earning at the box office of around $438000 where as Disclosure, though released 10 years prior to Aitraaz, earned $212000000 worldwide.

That is not all! A soap being aired on Sony Entertainment Television named Kya Hua Tera Vaada is a bare, desi and elasticized copy of Disclosure too. All this makes a Bollywood fanatic sit back and wonder if there really is such a serious shortage of original scripts!
