He has always been multi-faceted even before he joined filmdom. From a graduate in painting to being the singer-composer and of course, the talented actor that he is, Ali Zafar made nationwide frenzy when he decided to skip a million heartbeat entering Bollywood with a super-cool comic parody of sorts.
What followed was a series of brilliant films that he was a part of, some occasional music concerts and a plethora of audience to connect to! With his last film Chashme Baddoor entering the Hit brigade this year, Ali is one happy man. “I’ve received great reactions. It’s overwhelming: my friends and family loved the film. They would so sweetly send me audience reactions at the theatres as video bytes. And after my film worked so well why wouldn’t I be happy?”, smiled away the Pakistani heartthrob who has turned Indian from his heart.

Doing a remake of a cult comic film, there was loads of pressure on Ali to match upto the levels of euphoria and the buzz created, which he did convincingly well, hence the success. But ask him about the pressure and there comes an air of denial. “Pressure doesn’t help. I like to work without it, freely. We were making a very different film from the original. For some reason right from the word go I was very confident about the project and it was one of the most stress free shoots for me”, rued the actor-singer who could not really party his heart out with his Chashme Baddoor team at the success bash.

Ali who has received a thunderous response for his ongoing musical concerts too is planning for better and wider editions of releases in the coming year. With Aman Ki Aasha and Kill Dil already in his kitty, Ali opens up about why both are special to his heart. “Aman Ki Aasha was a tough shoot but was filled with fun and Yami Gautam is a delight to work with. She is very real and a simple girl. Plus Kill Dil is an action film. So it’s going to be very different than my previous roles and films in every way. You will see me in a completely different and new avatar. The director Shaad Ali has helped me gear up my fitness regime and I am working on the look as instructed. Overall Kill Dil will be a cracker of a film.”
And on his Birthday today, the celebrated star moves on for Cannes, where his films are being screened to Monaco, where he plans to celebrate his 33rd Birthday with close friends and family after a long and tiring schedule wrap on Aman Ki Asha, giving him a breather of sorts! Ask him about what he wants as a gift, and Ali-the simpleton takes over, “I don’t take into account material objects. I remember I got a very special birthday card from my entire family where each one of them had expressed their love and feelings and I loved it.”
