Bhumi Pednekar who after a streak of hits is ready to get into her next Durgavati presented by Akshay Kumar himself. While she was in the centre amidst the men helming the film in the announcement picture, people referred to her as the ‘Hero’ of the film, with the same also came some criticism.
Now, the actress has spoken about the same and also expressed how she feels the terms Hero and Heroine are gender-neutral now.

The actress who has been through a few controversies in the past few months, did not fear addressing the criticism. In an interview with Mid-Day, she said, “People need to look at the terms ‘hero’ and ‘heroine’ in a gender-neutral way, and not from the lens of Bollywood. If someone asks me who my ‘hero’ is, I’ll say, it’s my mother. I wouldn’t call her the ‘heroine’ of my life, would I?”
Titled Durgavati, the film is touted to be a thriller and is set to go on floors by January 2020. The film is directed by Ashok – who has also directed the Telugu hit Bhaagamathie. While there are speculations of Durgavati being a remake of the Telugu film which featured Anushka Shetty, Unni Mukundan, Jayaram, Usha Sarath, Vidyulekha Raman in lead roles, there is no official announcement regarding the same yet.
