Bee Stings To Love Bites For Mahie Gill & Randeep Hooda

The makers of Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster had a very troublesome situation on their hands when a hive of bees attacked the cast and crew during the shooting. “We looked like a mess. Some of the actors had swollen faces and lips due to the bee stings. These would obviously show on camera, more so since we were using a very sophisticated camera, the Alexa,” said Tigmanshu Dhulia, director of the film.

This is where they changed the bee stings to love bites! Tigmanshu justified the swellings on Mahie Gill and Randeep Hooda by turning them into love bites in the script. Dhulia says, “I’ve shown Randeep Hooda and Mahie Gill go further in their love-making than any Indian film so far. I’d have gone even further if I thought the censor board would allow it.”

It’s not the only improvisation in the film: ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster’ is also the first Hindi feature film to be shot on Alexa camera. Noted cinematographer Aseem Mishra, with films like New York, Band Baaja Baaraat and Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai under his belt, operated the Alexa. And though the 30-day back-to-back shoot across Gujarat has exhausted the crew, the makers are delighted with the results. Rahul Mittra, the producer of the film was very happy with the shoot. “Logistics was a major issue as we were shooting in the middle of nowhere, but my entire crew worked very hard and the actors have performed brilliantly. As time was a constraint, all major occasions were celebrated on location including Jimmy Shergill’s birthday.”

Produced by Brandsmith & Tigmanshu Dhulia Films, ‘Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster’ stars Jimmy Shergill, Randeep Hooda, Mahie Gill, Deepal Shaw, Vipin Sharma, Shreya Narain, Deepraj Rana and Mukesh Tyagi.
