Is Inkaar an unofficial remake of Disclosure (1994)? These are the speculations making rounds ever since the promo of the Arjun Rampal and Chitrangda Singh starrer was unveiled a couple of days ago.
“Close to two decades back when Michael Douglas and Demi Moore featured in this rather scandalous film about sexual harassment, quite a few heads turned. Now with the same theme being explored in an Indian context, it would be rather interesting to see how much has director Sudhir Mishra pushed the envelope,” quips a fellow filmmaker.
If at all the film is actually a direct take on Disclosure, it would be rather surprising since Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have already starred in Abbas-Mustan directed Aitraaz which was more than just inspired by Disclosure.
“This is why there is all the more reason to re-look at Inkaar before passing any judgement on the basis of just a couple of minutes that have been revealed,” says a source connected to the film, “Disclosure was about a woman wrongly pressing charges against her ex-lover and it was pretty much a one sided story. On the other hand Inkaar is looking at a bigger picture. For starters, it is challenging the very definition of sexual harassment and questioning the thin line that separates it from casual flirting.”
Meanwhile if insiders are to be believed, the lead actors from the film are gearing up for all the grilling that would come their way once the promotional activities kick-start. Well, we would say they better be prepared with their counter-argument. After all, with all the heat generated by Douglas-Moore, audience would rather prefer something even volatile than being served with a cold dish which takes a safe recourse and flatters to deceive.
