Gone are the days when an exceptionally successful film at the Box Office with a loosely-knit story and content used to score high brownie points and win in most of the categories at all the award functions. Dashing in, of late, is the concept of appraising the layered content rather than the gaudy and flashy appeal of the film in terms of appearances and cast. Juries and critics are thoroughly assessing all sides and scrutinizing details, before zeroing upon the winners list. De novo, as seen at the award ceremonies held in presence of the big-wigs and stalwarts of the vivacious and paparazzi filled tinsel town, the focus seems to be more on citing an alternating trend. This time around Films that were nominated and bagged the accolades were more of content rich films rather than just being box office super-duper hits.
Awards have eternally been ways of appreciation and gratitude shown to the people who pour in their best efforts in making and presenting a fully-packaged film on the platter in front of the audiences. Who doesn’t want to get appreciated? In the tinsel town, all are constantly working towards entertaining their audiences and in turn bagging away as many bestowals they can.

Not long ago, there was an era which the movies swept off awards based solely on the Box Office Collections and starcast with biggies like any of the Khans or Kumar or Roshan or Devgn or Bachchan or Kapoor, which paved way for a raging war amongst all-who gets the maximum number of trophies back home.
Times are changing, so is the outlook with which the Award Organizers give away the awards. As seen recently in the past few awards ceremonies held, they are concentrating more on the content-driven films laded with exceptional performances rather than the jazzy entrants of the 100 crore club. Even at the colossal Award ceremonies like that of the Filmfare, Stardust, Zee Cine Awards, Screen Awards, to cite a few for example, the movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Son Of Sardaar, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore, etc that bombarded the B.O collecting crores and crores, on domestic and overseas front, went missing from the nominees list in some of the important categories and winning in very few categories.
But when Koimoi.com, held an online poll in which the audiences participated actively and voted on a regular note, the results differed greatly with the winners at the popular award functions. According to the popular choices at Koimoi, fans still chose films like JTHJ, SOS, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore, etc, and wanted to make their favies to bag the awards. Are the audience amassed not considering and emphasizing on the strong content-driven faring averagely at the B.O films, but are still wanting to award their favorite stars and their masala flicks to sweep away all accolades? We observe this time around the Award Organizers tried to bring more into the frame such films which have strong messages and great storyline, iced with phenomenal acting and direction to go along with all, despite their collection at the B.O.
