“Kaamyaabi ke peeche nahi, kaabiliyat ke peeche bhaago.. kaamyaabi jhak maarke peeche aayegi.” This dialogue of 3 Idiots totally suits you especially after the Blockbuster success of your latest film Kabir Singh.

It’s been 16 years since your Bollywood debut and clearly, there have been more lows and fewer highs in your career. However, the way you have maintained the stardom and sanity is truly inspirational. From Ishq Vishk to Kabir Singh, your filmography has shown a great variation and even your growth as an actor has been marvelous.

An OPEN LETTER To 200 Crore Star Shahid Kapoor: This Success May Be Surprising But Was Long Awaited

I was a 13-year-old teenager when your Ishq Vishk released and your chocolate looks made me think if only I could look like you. Your act in Vivah (2006) showed me your sensitive side and I wanted to love my future wife just like Prem loves Poonam. Then came Jab We Met in 2007. For a 17-year-old boy, it was a turning point in life. I always admired you as an actor but your combination with Imtiaz Ali for Jab We Met worked wonders for me. While the “Jab We Met” topic deserves another article, I’ll move on and will appreciate your dare to experiment with a film like Kaminey. Not just your experiment paid off and translated into a Box Office success, it also presented you as a versatile actor who can kill with both his looks and performance. That hairstyle you had in Kaminey, I can’t tell you how much I loved it. Alas! my family didn’t allow me to have even half the size of those hair at that time.

Then came Mausam in 2011. People have different opinions for this one, but for me, it was all love and true love. I still don’t understand why a film like Mausam didn’t get the love it gave to the audience? This one still has a special place in my heart, even more, because when you shot the film in my hometown district (Fatehgarh Sahib), I got a chance to meet your father, legendary actor and director of this film, Mr. Pankaj Kapur. The memories of meeting him and even veteran actor Manoj Pahwa are still fresh in my mind. Couldn’t meet you and it was my mistake. I was just looking at you when you crossed my path and couldn’t move my feet to get a picture with you. I was so star struck!

But Mausam was clearly not the last film where you impressed me. You were a thorough entertainer in R… Rajkumar and an actor of an epic level in Haider. That scene where you call for “Aazaadi” still gives me goosebumps and you have no idea how it feels like watching that film even today. Udta Punjab, Rangoon and Padmaavat are some more marvels of your career, but you know and the world knows, it’s all about Kabir Singh now.

The film is a BLOCKBUSTER and a solo Shahid Kapoor blockbuster. We all were expecting you to touch 100 crores mark with this one but you are now ready to surpass even 250 crores mark. The kind of success you have received with Kabir Singh is surprising but was long awaited. The hard work, perseverance and dedication you have shown throughout your career have got you here and I just like all your lovers expect you to grow even more.

BIG CONGRATS on your success. Thanks for Kabir Singh! Stay Humble, Stay Blessed and Stay Happy!
