On Amitabh Bachchan’s 69th birthday we bring you some of his most memorable dialogues. Here’s wishing the Big B keeps delivering unforgettable lines like these!
Shahenshah – Rishtey Mein Hum Tumhare
Amitabh Bachchan played the desi hero who masquerades as a vigilante hero at night and lazy paan-chewing cop during the day. When Amrish Puri asks Shahenshah about his identity, Amitabh’s answer is crisp, “Rishtey mein toh hum tumhare baap hote hai, naam hai Shahenshah.”
Agneepath – Naam: Vijay Dinanath Chavan
When Amitabh Bachchan returns to the police station and is asked his identity, the kohl-eyed Amitabh Bachchan sprawls on the seat and answers, “Naam: Vijay Dinanath Chavan, baap ka naam…”
Deewar – Main Aaj Bhi Pheke Hue Paise…
There’s something in his attitude that make him give it back in Deewar. Even if he’s offered a bundle of notes, Amitabh “aaj bhi pheke hue paise nahi uthata.”
Deewar – Aaj Khush Toh Bahut Hoge Tum
Another gem from Salim-Javed. A frustrated Amitabh Bachchan turns to the god he scoffed at and asks for the life of his mother, beginning his angry tirade with “Aaj khush toh bahut hoge tum…”
Sholay – Tumhara Naam Kya Hai
When you have a talk-a-thon with Hema Malini in the front seat, only earplugs can come to your rescue. His sardonic “Tumhara naam kya hai Basanti?” gives a fitting reply to Hema’s breathless commentary in Sholay.
