Farooq Kabir’s Allah Ke Banday has entered into an association with UNICEF, the UN organisation which works towards ensuring that every child born in the country gets the best start in life and thrives and develops to his or her full potential. The film, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Sharman Joshi and Farooq Sheikh spans the lives of two children and talks about the socio-economic problems that plague many a life. It is because of the film’s theme of children that Kabir thought of tying up with UNICEF.
Says the filmmaker, “Allah Ke Banday tells us what is and gives us a profound message as to what can be. The film compels us to question the indifference, and shows us the initiative needed. The statistics provided by UNICEF are horrifying.”
