After the heart moving performance in her recent release Raazi, Alia Bhatt is all geared up to be the leading lady in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s next, a slice-of-life comedy drama, that will undergo from next year.
Alia stunned us all with her prepossessing and unwavering portrayal of Sehmat in Raazi, is all set to be a part of Ashwiny Iyer’s next which is a comedy drama. Alia Bhatt will be the leading lady of the film. The film has been written by the Dangal writer-director and Ashwiny’s husband, Nitesh Tiwari, along with the co-writer of the Aamir Khan blockbuster, Dangal, Nikhil Mehrotra.
In her previous interview with Mumbai Mirror, the actor had revealed his wish of working with the Bareilly Ki Barfi director, “Ashwiny is a fabulous director. I am excited as it’s going to be my breakaway film from all the serious ones. Ab main ek light-hearted film karne wali hoon.”
Also, according to the reports of Mumbai Mirror, ”After wrapping up Raazi, Alia was excited about doing a film from a completely different genre. She had been raving about the project since the script narration and was keen to come on board. Finalising the details took a while, but the actress gave her nod to the project after reviewing her dates. She will be stepping into a never-seen-before avatar for the comedy-drama.”

In the meantime, Ashwiny has a lot of projects in her hands. The director who directed phenomenal movies like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi is collaborating with the producer Ekta Kapoor on two films which are co-produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and her own banner Earthsky Pictures. Also, Ashwiny has been signed by Fox Star Studios to direct a sports-drama inspired by real events and based on Kabaddi.
Alia has a bucket full of movies lined for her including Zoya Akhtar’s musical-drama Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh, Ayan Mukerji’s fantasy-adventure Brahmastra featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Verman’s Kalank which boasts of an A-list ensemble cast of Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. She will also be seen as herself in a guest appearance in Aanand L Rai’s dwarf drama, Zero, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
