Akki’s Loss Is John Abraham’s Gain!

Guess John Abraham’s stars are taking a topsy-turvy turn after his hush-hush marriage with Priya Runchal-now-Abraham! The actor, who had a spell bounding 2013 with a supremely talented performance in Madras Café, has toppled over his contemporary, Akshay Kumar and taken over the titular role from him in the sequel to Aneez Bazmee’s Welcome, which featured Akki in the lead.

Akshay, who had been facing dismal defeats at the cash registers, with his last few films failing miserably at the box office, is losing out on his projects as well. The comic caper that elevated Akshay from the level of nobody to a certain somebody at a stage when his career was on the verge of a pause, the Hera Pheri franchise is all set to gear up for his third sequel, sans Akshay. Yes, you heard it right. Akshay won’t be playing Raju anymore, although Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty are slated to return on screen with their popular characters. Model Sakshi Chaudhary has been roped in to play the lead and the film goes on floors in about four months, after John finishes wrapping up his other commitments.

John’s wedding gift does not just end there, it seems. Producer Firoze Nadiadwala has also roped in John to play the lead in another sequel, Awara Pagal Deewana 2, the original of which featured Aftab along with Akshay and Sunil Shetty. The other cast members of this sequel are kept under wraps as the writer is busy finishing scripting for the film. Seems that this is Another Akshay film that has somehow been overtaken by the Madras Café star!

John and Akshay have always been friends since their Garam Masala days but Akshay’s overpowering screen presence in the film subdued their friendship a bit. But they returned back on screen together with Desi Boyz, which sank at the box office. Now that John is busy replacing Akshay in all his franchise films, it is time that Akshay brings in that lost Midas touch back into his films and work wonders, the way he always did for the past few years. As for now, he’s gotta deal with the setbacks as he loses out on his films, one by one!
