With several jokes being cracked, being the centre of all criticism for the baby fat and what not, Aishwarya Rai, India’s global icon had been missing from the scene for quite sometime as she took a maternity leave from her work to make sure her baby Aaradhya doesn’t suffer the jolts. While her selflessness and love for her baby were misconstrued as she losing out on offers, Ash is back and with a bang!

Anointed as the goodwill ambassador for the UNAIDS- joint HIV and AIDS United Nations programme, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has again gained back the spotlight that missed her more than she did. The actress who is known to reprise new roles each day and take her characters to an ultimately different level will be seen adorning a completely new role as its ambassador. Her main work is to increase awareness about the fatal HIV and the retrovirus that leads to a dissemination of lives at a global level. Stopping and eradicating AIDS will be what Ash would be looking for. Ash, on the other hand is ‘honoured to accept this appointment’. Being a mother is one thing that excites our B town diva and getting to do something for the infants and their mothers pumps a wind of joy into her heart! She wants every baby to be free of the killing retrovirus that causes AIDS and with such a venture, she is aiming to make this feat possible.

The organization opted for Rai since she is a global icon and her global reach would intensely help them advocate their plans and programmes in India as well as abroad! The tie which is supposedly Ash’s biggest catch in the last few years is possible helping her grab the headlines once again. Last week, she had joined Ban ki Moon, UN Secretary General and Hollywood actor Michael Douglas to commemorate the auspicious occasion of International Peace Day! At the ceremony held there, Rai also gave a speech on Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future.’

India, which accounts for almost 90% of all new HIV infections in infants, is one of the 22 countries that have been zeroed in for the implementation of the project. Amitabh Bachchan, Rai’s father in law has also served as the International goodwill ambassador for UNICEF few years back.

With the mammoth PR work going in and around her and the massive publicity that she’s getting, the stage is all set for a comeback, maybe! After all no one can deny, we did miss her a lot.
