A socially resurgent theme, one that stands high on the Indian social backdrop, Gauri Shinde’s story, inspired from her own mother, not only brought life back to celluloid with Sridevi getting in for a comeback, but also the emotions and the little nuances of an Indian housewife who doesn’t know English. Sridevi played Shashi with aplomb but it was Gauri who assured the world that Sridevi can still deliver.
A high octane adrenaline pumping action spy thriller, with the once upon a time jodi Salman and Katrina playing the leads, Ek Tha Tiger was riding on Salman’s thunderous star presence for sure. But what Kabir made out of an almost no-brainer masala flick with a loose script was beyond admiration.
A Bollywood satire that was satirical in the truest form, OMG Oh My God! rightfully questioned and hammered upon the wrong notions and the beliefs that we have. Worshipping God isn’t a crime at all, but worshipping the saints and the purohits who call themselves demi-gods is definitely the point which Umesh’s strong screenplay nailed upon.
The King of Romance was back with his last directorial venture and before he could see the world savoring upon the masterpiece he created, he left us for the heavenly abode. But the gift that Yashji had left for us in the form of Jab Tak Hai Jaan was something beyond surreal. Depicting a romantic saga after ages, that too with a somewhat loose plot, Yashji’s direction definitely turned this film into a landmark. Driving in the best from all his protagonists and churning the film into a classic yet modern love ballad, Yash Chopra lived on with his boots on. We agree!
Matching up to the shoes of Abhinav Kashyap who turned the complete Bollywood story with his Dabangg was definitely difficult but not impossible for our first time actor-turned-director Arbaaz Khan. The dialogues might have lacked the punch than Dabangg had but Dabangg 2 was no way less than its prequel. Moreover, this movie stressed on the emotional aspect of our Robinhood-Pandey-now-Kung-Fu-Pandey even better!
