Aditya Roy Kapur began his journey way back, working alongside Superstars like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and even Hrithik Roshan. But it was Mohit Suri’s unexpected Aashiqui 2 that catapulted him to a higher league. The unprecedented success of the film changed a lot of things about Aditya Roy Kapur.
In an interview with Koimoi, short of his next release Daawat-E-Ishq, the actor discusses how Aashiqui 2 stole away his anonymity. He said, “Aashiqui 2 was a huge change in so many respects. More filmmakers are offering me better roles. Choices widened after that film. Earlier I used to choose for a very limited range. I was always recognized but never to this extent. Aashiqui 2 permeated so through the mass based circuits. You lose your anonymity which is good. I can’t walk at Colaba Causeway or have tea at Irani restaurant without being looked at by people. You are always being watched at. And while I respect this thing, success gives me such confidence and happiness too but I miss the anonymity as well. It was very precious to me. Walking around in the rain and getting to be one of the guys , that is what I lost. That shouldn’t make you lose perspective either.”
The gap between Aashiqui 2 and now Daawat-E-Ishq was more than a year’s. Ask him what has been up to and where was he and the actor explains, “Aashiqui 2 was my first solo film. I had to wait for it to release, once it released I had to wait a certain amount of time for the right kind of offers to come my way. The film has to do well, then only producers consider me for better roles. Then that took its own course. Plus, the first thing that comes your way is not the first thing you necessarily like. Daawat E Ishq came to me after a while and in the middle, I spent a long time waiting for the right thing. I knew something nice would come my way and this was just that!”
Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur have undertaken a Food Yatra to promote their film which is all set to release this Friday along with Sonam Kapoor starrer Khoobsurat.
