Five years back, he shook the world with a storm when he unceremoniously decided to helm a project completely on his shoulders; a project that was unique yet social, fun yet strong, innocent yet matured. Taare Zameen Par, a film that goes down the honoured Wall of Fame in Bollywood for its apt presentation and amazing treatment was the maiden directorial project by Mr. Aamir ‘Perfectionist’ Khan.
Being a part of his Uncle Nasir Hussain’s films Manzil Manzil and Zabardast as an assistant director in his formative years has really assured a strong willed and creatively gifted director within the actor himself. While Taare Zameen Par had wooed the audience and critics at large for the beautiful plotline and the flawless direction, Aamir, the director is all set to reappear behind the camera with his next directorial venture.
The actor, who is busy promoting Talaash now, would be busy finishing off his shooting schedule for Dhoom 3 with Katrina Kaif where he slips into the shoes of the biker baddie, and Peekay with Anushka Sharma which also releases next year. Plus, Aamir would be too tied up conducting and conceptualizing the second season of the magnanimous television reality based show Satyameva Jayate which earned rollicking applauses from all spheres of the world for beautifully bringing the major warts that plague the Indian society to the forefront. He has confirmed to have selected a story, not his own, but scripted by an anonymous writer, which he wants to direct once he finishes his prior commitments as an actor and a TV anchor.
Aamir seems to have loved the script and has plans of producing the film too, but as of now, Aamir the actor will be the sole runner and Aamir, the director will have to take a backseat. But from the person who gifted us with a magical experience like Taare Zameen Par five years back, it would be wonderful to have him back in the director’s east after a sabbatical and it would be even more exciting to see what he has to offer this time round!
