Meanwhile, for the unversed, Clive Lloyd’s son plays the cricketer in the film. Giving further anecdotes Kabir recalled how Malcom Marshall’s son Mali who is playing his father’s character in the film, when ran in to bowl Addinath Kothare who plays Dilp Vengsarkar, he left him hurt. Interestingly in the real tournament that happened in 1983, Malcom’s ball had injured Vengsarkar for real, due to which the Indian player was away from the rest of the matches.
’83 is based on Indian Cricket teams iconic victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup. The film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, alongside Deepika Padukone who plays wife Romi Dev. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, and the ensemble playing various real life characters. The film was set to release on April 10 but the outbreak of COVID-19 has postponed it. The new release date will only be announced once the pandemic subsides.
