‘Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum’ brings the sex comedy genre back for the audience with the mad lead actor duo of Tusshar Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh. As is a known fact, the film is a sequel to the surprise hit ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ which had introduced the sex-com genre to the Indian audience. For that film, producers Ekta and Shobha Kapoor had decided to stay with the safe, tried and tested Anu Malik. However for the sequel they have given in to the temptation of experimentation and brought in new blood in the form of Anjjan- Meet Bro and Sachin-Jigar along with lyricists Kumaar and Mayur Puri . They do well and ensure that the soundtrack has many hits in the offing. . There are four original tracks and three remixes though one does feel that barring the Kailash Kher version, album could have done without them.

Going by the promos, ‘Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya’ has already got the whole country dancing on its tune. Rightfully so since this track sung by Vishal Dadlani and composed by Sachin -Jigar is truly funny, funky and very catchy. Video of the track (which is inspired by the Austin power look), aptly adds and depicts the goofiness of the setting. Vishal has an energy which is evident in his stage performance and the same comes across blatantly in this track which is really peppy and close to the retro theme. Mayur Puri’s lyrics are casual and have an everyday language that accentuates the fun element.
There is a ‘remix version’ of the above song with a faster rhythm than the original. However, ‘not required’ could well be the reaction of a listener since it sounds like a bad adulteration of original.
Next in the album is ‘Shirt the Button’ and the moment you see the title, you expect yet another funny and foot taping number. However, there is a definite surprise in store for the listeners here. Reason being that the album does a double take with this track and brings on a full fledged romantic ballad. with lyrics as the only dichotomy. With words that go as ’Tere gaalon ka mein colour soniye, gale ka tere mein necklace ho gaya’, one can well imagine the kind of flavor Kumaar wanted to bring here. Still, the track manages to bring on the romantic emotions and that’s mainly due to the tune and the evergreen effervescent voice of Sonu Nigam. Quite a few listeners may find the music and his voice very repetitive and though it all sounds a tad clichéd, there are always suckers for such romantic tracks. Anjjan- Meet Bro have been able to catch the pulse of listeners here despite such ironic lyrics and the gamble definitely pays off.
If the romantic version makes you smile, the ‘remix version’ makes you laugh initially; more so due to the choice of singer Kailash Kher. Even he would not have dreamt of singing such words in his voice and style. However, this seems to be a litmus test which Kailash clears with flying colors. The song makes you believe in the singer and power of his voice as it actually works and touches the listener. The two versions here should not have been named as an ‘original’ and ‘remix’ because the singers here make a complete difference to an overall sound with their respective style that has brought in certain originality.
After reading the title of the next track ‘Hum Toh Hain Cappuccino (U.P. – Bihar Lootne)’, one can guage and expect a spoof on the super hit song picturised on Shilpa Shetty in ‘Shool’. It does not disappoint and not just lives up to the expectation but actually gives more than that. It’s a jamboree by a very boisterous Sukhwinder Singh along with Daler Mehndi, Riteish Deshmukh and Swaroop. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy could not have found a better mix where a new take on this by Anjjan – Meet Bros and Kumaar reminds one of the Kishore Kumar days where even the most nonsensical and funny lyrics sung with the right music could ensure a heady track. This one is very close to that.
Neeraj Shreedhar sings the next track ‘Volume high Karle’ which again has music by Anjjan- Meet Bros. This song actually dips the momentum in the rather interesting album. A party track, it surprisingly does not do any wonders for the listeners. Techno arrangements remind one of early disco tracks which would be given a total pass today. There is also a ‘remix version’ but then other than the fast paced beats, there is not much difference in the two tracks. In fact one is also tempted to question the need for this version.
All in all though, the album works and would definitely do well. There may be a segment of listeners who would rubbish the effort due to obvious lack of sophistication of poetry in lyrics. However, to write such lyrics is also an art which not many possess, something that has been made possible by Kumaar and Mayur Puri. This is a total package wrapped very well by the team and Ekta Kapoor can well expect a winner in the making.
