Fitoor starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in lead roles is an intense romantic drama slated to release during the Valentine’s day week. The film’s music has been composed by Amit Trivedi. Naturally, one expects a romantic film to have music that is enticing enough to feel the love.
Let’s have a look at how the Fitoor music album is :
The title track of Fitoor is one track that will find an instant connect with you. I don’t know if it is Arijit Singh’s beautiful vocals or the brilliant lyrics of Swanand Kirkire that leave a lasting effect on you. Yeh Fitoor Mera sounds high on passion and Trivedi’s musical arrangements with the use of instruments such as Violin, show his intelligence as a composer yet again. This is one song you are not going to get over soon!
Pashmina is the second number from the album and with a beautiful word like ‘Pashmina’, Swanand Kirkire weaves a song that is heart-warmingly romantic. Sung by Amit Trivedi, the song is extremely passionate and touches your heart instantly. It does remind you of Trivedi’s Lootera compositions in certain ways. This is again the kind of song that will remain in your playlist for long.
The famed Persian line that is often associated with the beauty of Kashmir – “Gar firdaus, ruhe zamin ast, hamin asto, hamin asto, hamin ast” means if there is ever a heaven on earth, it’s here, it’s here, it’s here. This is what ‘Haminatu’ song all about. The song has a dual purpose for the film as it is not only shot in Kashmir, but also the fact that the name of the lead character in the film is ‘Firdaus’ (heaven). Sung beautifully by Zeb Bangash, a Pakistani singer, her voice fits perfectly for the song and hats off to Amit Trivedi for making that choice.
Another song with a fresh musical arrangement is Hone Do Batiyaan. Trivedi very carefully maintains a Kashmiri flavor all through the album and it is songs like Haminastu and Hone Do Batiyaan that show it. Sung by Zeb Bangash and Nandini Srikar, the song is not an ordinary track that may appeal to everyone. I particularly did not enjoy in the first go but truly started to enjoy it the second time.
Tere Liye is different from the other numbers in the album. This song comes off more like a Bollywood romantic melody. Sunidhi Chauhan and Zubin Nautiyal’s vocals create a great effect. Trivedi is quickly proving to be the next Rahman with his work, why I would say this is because of his clever choices of singers. Tere Liye is the kind of song that becomes an instant hit with the audiences who listen to romantic songs.
Rangaa Re comes in two versions – English and Hindi. The musical arrangements for Rangaa Re are western. While the Hindi one is sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Amit Trivedi, the English one is crooned by Caralis Monteiro. For me, the song does not work much. I am not able to picture this song in the film and as an audio track it is not as much enjoyable.
The music of Fitoor is extremely appealing and perfect for the Valentine’s season. My picks from the album are the title track ‘Yeh Fitoor Mera‘, ‘Pashmina‘ and ‘Tere Liye‘. I am going with a 4/5 for this album.
