Dishoom starring Varun Dhawan, John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles is all set to hit the theaters this month, The action drama is expected to have a lively soundtrack composed by Pritam.
Here’s a look at the music of Dishoom :
Sau Tarah Ke was featured in the film’s trailer too and it was easily a catchy track that would attract anyone. The song takes off on a peppy note with Jonita Gandhi’s vocals and soon paces up with Amit Mishra’s male vocals. Unfortunately, there is a stark difference between the first and second part of the song. It comes off as two different songs clubbed into one. The lyrics don’t have anything special to offer either. In spite of its flaws, the song makes up for a decent hear.
There is another version of this song which has been crooned by Aditi Singh Sharma and Abhijeet Sawant. It is almost similar to the original one but lacks the punch that Jonita and Amit Mishra bring in the first one.
Another upbeat number from the album ‘Toh Dishoom‘ is a Punjabi track crooned by Raftaar and Shahid Mallya. Right from start, the song seems quite a ‘been there, heard that’ affair. It finds slight resemblance to the Desi Boyz title track. This is not an audio tack one would be hooked onto.
The much-talked about item song from the album, featuring Parineeti Chopra and Varun Dhawan is actually quite an ordinary one. The beats are quite common and with those cringe worthy lyrics, there is hardly anything in the song to look forward to.
The song has two versions, with the male vocals of each by Nakash Aziz and Aman Trikha, Both versions seem almost similar so the foot tapping beats are the only good thing.
Ishqa is quite an average composition. The song finds slight influence from a few English tracks. The song is peppy but does fail to reel in a listener. The lyrics hardly make a connection and the music is equally boring.
No idea why but the popular Desi Boyz song ‘Subha Hone Na De‘ has been remixed and used in Dishoom‘s album. It almost seems like a desperate attempt from Pritam’s side to give this album a big hit number. Singers of the original track, Mika Singh and Shefali Alvares croon it but the freshly added EDM beats are not exactly fun. I’d still say the original one is a much better one.
The Dishoom album is unfortunately not very much ‘Dishoom’ types. Sau Tarah Ke and Jaaneman Aah are commercially viable tracks but will not enjoy much longevity. Considering Pritam is the composer, we were expecting a quite a action packed album. I am going with a 2.5/5 for this album.
