Daawat-E-Ishq is the upcoming romantic drama starring Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles. This foodie romance may be a visual treat but when it comes to the music, the album scores low on the quotient of likeability. The soundtrack of Daawat-E-Ishq is a disappointing one, as the songs turn out to be completely unimpressive. This Sajid-Wajid album is a downer, only a song or two may actually interest you.

Daawat-E-Ishq Title Track – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
The title track ‘Daawat-E-Ishq‘ seems to be a mixture of several songs you have heard before. While the song starts with a melody that reminds you Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara‘s ‘Taiyyab Ali‘, there is nothing likeable about this number. Lyrics even though penned down as an interesting conversation between two people, it does not really entice you as a song. Daawat-e-Ishq comes out as a forced title track for the film.
Mannat – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
This song has two versions in the album. One is a reprise version. Giving it an Arabic touch, the vocals by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and Keerthi Sagathia don’t really spellbind you, which was expected considering it has such great vocalists. Supposed to be a romantic number, this song fails to give you the right feel. However, the reprise version is surely much better than the original.
Rangreli – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
This is a wedding song number with a complete ‘band baaja’ feel. There is nothing novel about this song too. It comes out as a typical dance number more common to Punjabi weddings. The vocals of Shreya Ghoshal and Wajid are the only positives in this song. As a composition, there is not much versatility in the tunes or the use of instruments. Rangreli fails to engage you even to reach the end of it.
Shayarana – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
After giving Parineeti Chopra a hit number with her vocals such as ‘Pareshaan‘, this is another number that Shalmali Kholgade does an excellent job at. This is an exception in the album as it is a complete western number and Shalmali does a good job with this one. With a good combination of lyrics and a good use of guitar in the song, this is one song from the soundtrack that will impress you. It is a complete different track from what Sajid-Wajid have done before.
Jaadu Tone Waaliyan – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
As soon as the song starts, you may get a feel of the regular ‘Maata Ki Jagrata’ only in the rock version. The song is loud and is a complete mismatch to the album. The lyrics do not blend well with the song and the musical arrangement itself is disturbing. While Sahabab Sabri has a strong voice, I wish it would have been used in a better way. Hopefully, the song has a crucial bit to offer in the film because as a track, it is an irritating number that cannot be heard on a ‘repeat’ mode in your playlist.
Daawat-E-Ishq Instrumental – Daawat-E-Ishq  Music Review
Surprisingly, the instrumental version of the title song is much better. The tune sounds much better and the little variations made in this instrumental track are worth listening to once. Also the added dialogues give the instrumental track a different feel. It may not be stuck on your ipod playlist, but the instrumental version is worth listening to in this album.
The Last Word – Daawat-E-Ishq Music Review
The Daawat-E-Ishq album is highly disappointing. While the name comes out as an interesting one, the music is extremely mediocre. None of the songs have the capability to become chartbusters. With Lucknow and Hyderabad in the story, composers Sajid-Wajid fail to create any magic of the two cities which hold excellent musical history. The album is plain boring and so I will go with a 2/5 rating for this album.
