Banjo starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles is all set to hit the theaters next week. The film revolves around the fate of Banjo players who do not get a fair share of the popularity they deserve.
The music of the film has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar.
Here’s a look at the songs from Banjo‘s album:
The song takes off with some beautiful tones of Banjo with a backing of drums and electric guitar. Vishal Dadlani’s energetic vocals give this song Ganpati song a great boost. Previously too, we have seen Bollywood create some of the most enthusiastic tracks revolving around the Ganpati festival such as Deva Shree Ganesha from Agneepath. This song has the energy but does make it to the best Ganpati songs list!
Udan Choo is a soft romantic ballad from the album. One of the best parts of this song is Hriday Gattani’s vocals which blend perfectly with the cutesy lyrics that are bound to make you smile. The song paces up towards the end as the signature tune of the song is played with a Banjo. This is one of the most likable tracks from the album. It also has a Vishal-Shekhar quality written over it!
What would a song sound like if Banjo players were part of a commercial pop band? Well, exactly this. Rada is upbeat and has been crooned by powerful artists such as Vishal Dadlani, Shalmali Kholgade and Nakash Aziz. With its catchy lyrics and grooving beats, it is impossible to not move to this song but as an audio track, it may not become your favorite.
Pee Paa Ke seems to be an unnecessary addition to the album when it comes to its audio quality. The song seems situational and could be during the lead being in a drunk situation. Vishal Dadlani and Nakash Aziz come together for this track but fail to create any magic. This is probably the weakest song from the album.
Another slow track from the album, Rehmo Karam seems to be a background song for a crucial scene. The problem with the song is that it is very similar to Chak De‘s ‘Maula Mere‘ or Dor‘s emotional number ‘ Yeh Hosla‘. This song has been sung beautifully by the very talented Ajay Gogavale and that’s the best part about this song.
Another song in the album that revolves around lord Ganesha is Om Ganpataye Namaha Deva. The problem with this song is that it has background beats of ‘We Will Rock You‘ and the lyrics are devotional. Also, while the Hindi lyrics are sung by Nakash Aziz, there is also English rap that comes in between which has been crooned by Vishal Dadlani. This song seems quite a misfit with its musical arrangements and lyrics. A disappointing track from the album!
The album of Banjo is quite a disappointment for a film that deals with music as its main theme. Udan Choo and Bappa are the only songs that will appeal you to the point of listening to them more than once, the rest of them don’t make the cut. I am going with a 2.5/ 5 for the Banjo album.
