Music is one of the most important aspects of films specially in Bollywood as it sets the first impression on the moviegoers. In recent times, Music Directors have become more significant, since they equally hold the responsibility to create pre-release buzz of the film. 2015 gave us some chartbuster music albums.

So here are the nominations for Best Music of 2015:

Ankit Tiwari, Meet Bros. Anjjan and Amaal Mallik – Roy

With the soulful romantic numbers like Tu Hai Ki Nahi, Boond Boond and Yaara Re, composer Ankit Tiwari created magical tunes which were purely memorable. Amaal Mallik’s Sooraj Dooba Hai and Meet Brothers Anjjan’s Chittiyan Kalaiyan were instant hits and the film received the tag of musical chartbuster soon. Roy won Filmfare award for best music and Arijit won best singer award for crooning the foot-tapping track ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai‘ of this film.

Krsna Solo, Tanishk Vayu – Tanu Weds Manu Returns

The album of this film has 7 tracks of which Banno and Ghani Bawari gives you a desi and rustic flavor. Hogaya Hai Pyaar and O Sathi Mere are soothing romantic tracks and are still treat to your ears. Mat Ja Re is a typical sad song while Move On is a situational track which is unique in its own way. Old School Girl is a desi track with the blend of jazz beats which is a completely fresh track. The album has quite different tracks which makes it one of the contenders in this nomination list.

Anu Malik – Dum Laga Ke Haisha

The music album of Dum Laga Ke Haisha represents the musical era of 90s. The soulful romantic classical track Moh Moh Ke Dhaage is extremely beautiful in both male and female versions. Tu is a musical treat to hear Kumar Sanu’s voice after long time. Sunder Susheel is a desi track with a bit of Rajasthani flavor in it which is quirky and quite entertaining. Dard Karara has the beats of 90’s songs and it gives the nostalgic experience of 90’s era. The album of this film has the good amount of enjoyable songs and so it takes a spot in our nomination list.

Pritam – Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Bajrangi Bhaijaan‘s Selfie Le Le Re and Aaj Ki Party were among the best party tracks of 2015. Soulful tracks like Tu Jo Mila and Zindagi Kuch Toh Bata connected you with the film. The beautiful melodious track Tu Chahiye and the cheesy fun Chicken song Kuk-doo-koo was well received by the people and after long time a qawwali was featured in the form of Bhar Do Jholi in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film was a bag compiled with all music genres. Hence it deserves a spot in nomination list.

A.R. Rahman – Tamasha

The Music Maestro A.R. Rahman again delivered a musical masterpiece through Tamasha. With Fun tracks like Matargashti, Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai and Wat which was loved by audiences, Romantic track Agar Tum Saath Ho was one of the best tracks of the year. Tracks like Safarnama, Tu Koi Aur Hai and Chali Kahani were off beat and experimental tracks which showcased the class of Rahman.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali – Bajirao Mastani


The Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani has impressed the audiences with its brilliant music. With melodious romantic tracks like Aayat, Deewani Mastani, Aaj Ibaadat, Albela Sajan, Ab Tohe Jane Na Doongi and Mohe Rang Do Laal which are treat to ears, the rustic victory anthem Malhari and Lavani track Pinga received great response from the audiences. The Gajanana Aarti, a high energy track, was enjoyed by the people. Singer Shreya Ghoshal received best singer award for crooning Deewani Mastani track from this film.
