Finn Wolfhard AKA Mike Almost GAVE UP On His Career Before Stranger Things; Read On

Finn Wolfhard has been making a lot of noise over his eating capabilities. The actor yesterday revealed how he could eat like a 4-year-old and fans were amused. Known for his portrayal as Mike Wheeler, did you know Finn was almost about to give up on acting before Stranger Things? Below is the scoop you need.

For the unversed, Stranger Things features Finn along with Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin in lead. The Netflix show is a teenage supernatural horror fiction drama and has garnered a lot of fame over the years. Mike Wheeler is also the love interest of Millie aka Eleven in the show.

Finn Wolfhard was struggling with his career before Stranger Things happened. The actor had a film in his hand, which too fell apart. So he decided to give up on acting and instead pursue direction.

In a conversation with The Guardian, Finn Wolfhard explained that tough phase as, “I was sick in bed and almost considering not even acting.” However, he decided to try his luck and sent the audition tape. It was then when The Duffer Brothers noticed his acting capabilities and cast him for the role of Mike Wheeler.

Talking about his first Skype call with the Stranger Things creators, “They just kind of pitched me the show – I was, like, 12 – and we talked about all the movies it was based on and that was that,” shared Finn.

The actor also went onto question why small actors are not trusted upon. The filmmakers should also make some big-budget films with them and trust their capabilities.

Finn Wolfhard said, “I was always confused why young people weren’t taken seriously. When I was younger I would ask, Why don’t they give big-budget action movies to kids? Just give a seven-year-old an unlimited amount of money – do you know how insane that would be? The imagination? It wouldn’t make any sense. It would be completely mad. But you’d see the passion and everyone would love it – everyone would go and see it. I didn’t understand that when I was younger, and I still don’t understand that as a 17-year-old. I mean, I understand, but I’ve always tried to push that boundary, of what I can do at my age.”
