Anees Bazmee is one of the renowned filmmakers of Bollywood known for their brand of comedy. He had his share of struggles but eventually emerged as the successful director and now he looking forward to deliver some promising flicks including John Abraham’s Pagalpanti and Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.
While talking to Mumbai Mirror, Anees shared about his struggling days and how his journey landed up making him one of the celebrated filmmakers. He revealed that he started working as a child artist at an early age out of responsibility.
He said, “I never wanted to be a part of the film industry. That time it was a necessity for me to work and I got a job in this profession. I always had the feeling that I am not meant to be an actor. Not because I wasn’t a good actor but I lacked satisfaction. Now when I look back, I think working in all departments is helping me.”

Anees also worked under Raj Kapoor as an assistant director. Later he join hands with other filmmakers as a writer but shockingly wasn’t credited. He finally tasted success with Ajay Devgn’s Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha.
“I had written many scripts for which I was not credited. But what helped me was I enjoyed the audiences’ reaction and got confidence. Then, I started working as a writer in many films – Swarg, Gopi Kisan, Deewana Mastana, Aankhein and many other films. Initially, I had to struggle a lot but later my journey became a memorable one. If I hadn’t seen so many struggles, I wouldn’t have been able to make comedy films. I think comedy is hidden in tragedy,” he adds.
