Actress Kriti Sanon is excitedly anticipating the release of her next, Housefull 4 which boasts of a powerful ensemble with actors like Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Bobby Deol in the leads. The film’s recently released song, ‘Ek Chumma’ has been receiving a lot of flak and is also being termed regressive by a certain section of the audiences.
And now, in her recent media interaction, Kriti has opened up about the reactions to the song and also compare it to songs like Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Tareefan and her own, Coca Cola. Kriti states that if a song is demeaning woman or womanhood in any manner she would be the first to oppose it.

Speaking to Mid-Day about the same, the Bareilly Ki Barfie actress said, “How is it regressive? The boys are saying [those lines] to their partner, not to a stranger. If Ek Chumma was disrespectful towards women, I would have spoken up.”
She further said, “In Tareefan [Veere Di Wedding], why was it not pointed that male models were being treated the way mainstream treats female models? In Coca Cola [song from Luka Chuppi], I was asked why the girl was being put down [through the lyrics]. But my character too was saying the same lines to the guy. How is it okay for a guy to be teased, but there’s so much talk when a girl is being teased?”

On further being prodded if she has ever made changes to a song to ensure that it does not sound offensive, Kriti said, “There is a lot of second-guessing because I want to be responsible. I don’t want the wrong message to go out through a scene or the movie [as a whole]. Anything we do or say can be taken out of context and blown out of proportion. But we don’t want to hurt anyone.”
The Farhad Shamji directorial, Housefull 4 is slated to release on October 26, 2019. Kriti also has Paagalpanti and Panipat in the pipeline.
