Twentieth Century Fox’s Rio stayed put on top of the North American box-office chart with a collection of US $26.3 million in its second weekend. Its haul for 10 days was $80.8 million. The third Madea-titled movie, Madea’s Big Happy Family, collected $25.1 million in its first weekend to debut at the second place.
Twentieth Century Fox’s Water For Elephants grossed $16.8 million in its opening weekend to debut at the third place. Universal Pictures’ Hop fell one place – to no. 4 – with a haul of $12.2 million in its fourth weekend. Its total for 24 days went up to $100.2 million. Rounding off the Top 5 chart was Scream 4 which fell three places.
In its second weekend, the horror flick added $7 million to its kitty to take its 10-day total to $31 million.
