Karim’s daughter, Zoa Morani, makes her debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s production Always Kabhi Kabhi. Morani is also said to hold a stake in Shah Rukh Khan’s IPL cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Morani is also the executive producer of SRK’s superhero film RA.One. With Morani’s name in the 2G scam, his investments could come under the CBI scanner.

Morani is expected to move his bail application in the next hearing scheduled for May.

Last month, a Mumbai-based tabloid had reported that Morani’s stage show company, Cineyug, was involved in financial transactions with firms under investigation in the 2G scam. The report contained details of how Asif Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal had transferred around Rs. 200 crore to Morani’s Cineyug, which in turn had been transferred to Kalaignar TV run by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s family. The CBI suspects that the money was the kickback disgraced former Telecom Minister A Raja received for out of turn 2G spectrum allocation to Swan Telecom.
