On Tuesday, the film collected 1 crore, thanks to the audience’s word of mouth. The film has currently collected a total of 36.60 crores.
The film narrates the story Naina, a woman suffering from Tourette’s Syndrome, a neurological condition characterized by involuntary tics, and her uphill battle to realize her dream of becoming a teacher. Watching her face numerous hardships and overcome them inspires the audience as they root for her. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, the film was produced by Maneesh Sharma under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

In a Skype interview with Firstpost, Brad Cohen, the man that inspired Rani Mukerji’s character talked about being approached for his story. He said, “ I was very shocked. I could not believe that someone from Bollywood wanted to make a movie about my life. I was honoured and obviously excited that it’s such a great opportunity for me to share my story and hopefully inspire millions of people across India.” Remembering his initial reaction when he was told that the film would be led by an actress, he said, “ Honestly, I was more shocked because I was expecting the actor portraying me to be a guy (laughs). And when I learnt that it was an actress, I was like, “Wow!” Further, I got to know about Rani’s work and I realised that she was an amazing actress, that she’s a big name in movies in India.”
