Hate Story IV has a decent first week at the box office as 20.25 crore* came in. Though the weekend was fair at around 12 crores, what helped the film was sustained response during the weekdays which helped it go past the 20 crore mark.
The film is now a plus affair with decent profits coming its way. It should collect 7-8 crore more and that would be fine considering the kind of budget at which it was made and the returns that had already come its way.
That said, the film’s numbers are close to what Hate Story 2 had gathered many years back and in that perspective, the franchise hasn’t grown. As a matter of fact, it will fall well short of Hate Story 3 which had crossed the 50 crore mark. It would be interesting to see how Hate Story 5 shapes up next.

As for the other two releases of the week, Dil Juunglee, and 3 Storeys, there were no real collections whatsoever. Former just couldn’t take any kind of a start despite the presence of Taapsee Pannu. The film is folding up under the 2 crore mark. 3 Storeys is just a little better but that’s about it. Though Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani were backing the film, collections won’t be able to go past the 3 crore mark. Both films should soon be available on the online medium and it would be interesting to see how they fare there.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
