Join UsEarlier this year, Ghayal Once Again was one of the notable action films to have hit the screens. The Sunny Deol starrer couldn’t really capitalize on the decent start that it took and then folded up with a lifetime total of 40 crore. Ever since then, only two action films have done well this year – Baaghi and Dishoom. While these are the milestones that Shivaay should eventually cross, for now it has managed to go past the lifetime total of Ghayal Once Again in four days flat.
The Ajay Devgn film managed to show a good jump on Monday owing to the National holiday post Diwali. 17.35 crore was added to the film’s total and that’s a good jump, considering the fact that the film opened to 10.24 crore on Friday. Yes, a bigger total on the opening day would have immensely helped the film but the fact that it has stayed steady right through the weekdays and now a jump has been evidenced on Monday pretty much indicate’s the fact that for the target audience, the action flick is working well.
Currently, Shivaay stands at 45.91crore and it has managed to cross the lifetime total of following action films of 2016:
Wazir – 41 crore
A Flying Jatt – 40 crore
Ghayal Once Again – 40 crore
Today is a partial holiday (Bhai Duj) in some parts of the country and that would further aid in high numbers. On a regular Monday and Tuesday, the film would have dropped further but then that loss of drop has already been absorbed by Shivaay on the opening weekend due to pre-Diwali dull period. In a way, the film is settling down well now, though exact picture would emerge especially after today’s collections and then the hold that comes in on Wednesday and Thursday.
