The much controversial film Udta Punjab, starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles, is all set to release this week. The film’s music has been composed by Amit Trivedi.

Here’s a look at how the music of Udta Punjab is:
Chitta Ve – Udta Punjab Music Review
Going by the setting of the film, Chitta Ve is a perfect track that complements it. The song is trippy and clubbed with its funky lyrics, it makes up for a great listen. The party track has a hint of EDM and with Punjabi lyrics it sets a fine mood. There is good amount of variation in the tempo which is what makes it trippy. Sung by Babu Haabi, Shahid Mallya and Bhanu Prtap, this song is one hell of a ride.
Da Da Dasse – Udta Punjab Music Review
After hearing numerous item songs which resemble one another, singer Kanika Kapoor finally comes up with a song that is different. After NH10‘s Chill Gaye Naina, this is probably her best track. Da Da Dasse is clever with its lyrics and almost instantly finds a liking with you. This one grows on you each time you listen to it. It has a Nucleya music kind feel to it. One of the best tracks from the album.
Ikk Kudi – Udta Punjab Music Review
Ikk Kudi comes in two versions in the album. The original has been sung by Shahid Mallya. A slow track with highly meaningful lyrics, you just can’t get enough of this number. It gives a certain amount of depth to the otherwise rocking album. With minimal musical arrangements, the focus lies on the lyrics.
A reprise version has been sung by actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh. It is equally good but compared to Mallya’s effective singing, this one seems slightly dull.
Ud-Daa Punjab – Udta Punjab Music Review
Varun Grover is a true hero of this song. As interesting as the lyrics go, ‘Andar Ka Kutta‘, the song has much more to offer as you listen to it completely. Amit Trivedi and Vishal Dadlani make sure to pump it up with their vocals. This is clearly a performance driven song and Shahid has nailed it.
Hass Nach Le – Udta Punjab Music Review
Shahid Mallya gets another superb track from the film. Hass Nach Le is a vibrant song which revolves around self-exploration. With chorus and harmonium pieces in between, this gives you a great holy Punjabi folk flavour. The song could have much more meaning in the film based on its placement. As an audio track, it is a decent number.
Vadiya – Udta Punjab Music Review
Another trippy number from the album, Vadiya has been crooned by Amit Trivedi. The song is high on beats and will instantly take you for a spin. I would say, who needs drugs to get high when you can get high on such music. This song is sheer madness if you listen to it on a blasting volume.
The Last Word – Udta Punjab Music Review
Amit Trivedi’s Udta Punjab album is young, trippy and intoxicatingly rich. Get high on this album soon! I am going with a 3.5/5.
