Bajirao Mastani has opened on expected lines at the Box Office. The manner in which it started in theaters during the morning shows, the signs were always there that there would be escalation in footfalls by evening and night shows. The reviews were largely positive too and the word of mouth ranged from decent to quite good. As a result, the film started to gain good footing by the time the day came to a close.

The film comfortably crossed the 10 crore mark and currently stands at 12.80 crore. These are now the 10th Highest Day One collections of 2015 and could possibly have been the 5th Highest, had there been no clash. Since the audience was divided with Dilwale releasing as well, the collections were always meant to be a little lower than the true potential.

Here are the Top-10 opening days of 2015 so far:

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – 40.35 crore
Bajrangi Bhaijaan – 27.25 crore
Dilwale – 21.8 crore* [Final numbers awaited]
Singh Is Blinng – 20.67 crore
Brothers – 15.2 crore
Welcome Back – 14.35 crore
ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – 2 – 14.3 crore
Shaandaar – 13.1 crore
Gabbar Is Back – 13.05 crore
Bajirao Mastani – 12.80 crore

With numbers like these, Bajirao Mastani now has to show good escalation over the weekend. That said, since there are as many as three open weeks ahead, even normal jumps of 20% odd would be good enough to ensure a healthy weekend, and then a stable run for days in succession.

For Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, these are now the highest collections of a film of theirs this year, since the opening day of Dil Dhadakne Do [10.5 crore] and Tamasha [10.87 crore] have been surpassed.

Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
