The year of 2015 was touted to be a special one for the three Khans, Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir considering the trio turn 50 this year. Even though ageing does not have a significant effect on their careers, we wonder if there will be an alteration in the way the trio will be choosing their films for the coming years. Would they still sign meatier roles or star in films that are high on the content value?

Well, 2016 is already looking quite bright for the three superstars since they have an amazing line-up. There is something similar in all their upcoming releases, wondering what? Interestingly, the Khans seem to choosing a newer lot of directors for their upcoming films. Even though Raees, Fan, Dangal and Sultan may be coming from power house production houses, the directors for all these films have in their previous works, not achieved much box office success.

Lets have a look at Khans and their upcoming films and their directors.

Shah Rukh Khan : Raees, Fan & Gauri Shinde Film

Shah Rukh Khan has two releases lined up for next year, Fan and Raees. While Fan is directed by Maneesh Sharma who has previously helmed average films like Shuddh Desi Romance and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat was the only film that succeeded at the box office. Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan teams up with him for Fan and even calls it one of the most honest works he has ever done.

His Eid release for 2016 is Raees and the film is helmed by Rahul Dholakia, the national-award winning director of Parzania. The director is known for his non-commercial works and well, Shah Rukh working with him is quite a surprise for many of us.

After Fan and Raees, Shah Rukh has also signed a film with Gauri Shinde who is known for her debut film English Vinglish. Interestingly, the film stars Alia Bhatt with him.

Salman Khan : Sultan

Salman Khan has had an extraordinary year so far. Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan received tremendous success and now the star is all set for his Diwali release, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which has been directed by Sooraj Barjatya.

In the meanwhile, the actor has already started shooting for his next, Sultan. The film which is a YRF produced drama, will have him playing a Haryanvi wrestler. The film is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar who has previously directed YRF films like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Gunday. Both the films have not performed upto the mark at the box office.

After working with successful directors like Kabir Khan, Sooraj Barjatya in 2015, the star seems to be taking quite a risk with a comparatively amateur Ali Abbas Zafar.

Aamir Khan : Dangal

Aamr Khan will not be having a release this year but the actor is surely working hard on his upcoming film Dangal. The film which is a biopic on India’s well known wrestler, Mahavir Phogat, has Aamir all beefed up and learning wrestling in Punjab. The film is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari who had last directed Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bhoothnath Returns and also Chillar Party.

Both films received praises for their content but not extremely successful when it comes to the business. With Aamir Khan’s previous box office record of PK, we wonder if Dangal could outdo it.
