On its second day, Nikhil Advani’s Hero managed to stay steady at the Box Office. While an escalation would have been good, the fact that the film hasn’t fallen on Saturday, means it would have a fairly decent weekend. Since around 6.62 crore have come in on Saturday, the film is now heading towards the 22 crore weekend.
For Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, this is a fair start to their Bollywood career, though it would be weekdays that would decide how far does the film go from here. Ideally, the film would be looking at a 50 crore lifetime total. However, a plethora of releases week after week means wait and watch.
That said, the manner in which the Salman Khan and Eros production is finding audience means that the weekend total of much bigger/star affairs like Hamari Adhuri Kahani (16.5 crore), Bombay Velvet (16.2 crore), Alone (15 crore), Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (14.2 crore), Mr. X (14 crore) and NH10 (13.25 crore) would have already been surpassed, now that the morning shows of Sunday are through.
This isn’t all as the expected weekend total of Hero also promises to surpass the lifetime total of All Is Well (22 crore), Dolly Ki Doli (21 crore), Hunterr (17 crore) and all-newcomer affair Khamoshiyaan (12 crore) in three days flat.
Expectations are that in the end run, Hero surpasses the lifetime collections of Tevar (41 crore) and Roy (45 crore). It has to be seen if that indeed becomes possible.
