First day collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan are out and they stand at 27.25 crore. Now this is more than Salman’s last release Kick (26.52 crore), which also released pre-Eid, and less than Ek Tha Tiger (33 crore) which released on a National holiday (33 crore).
So how is the film placed for the rest of the weekend?
Well, good. In fact very good, and there are three major reasons for that – A) Collections are now bound to soar with Eid, B) The critical acclaim for the film is unparalleled for a Salman starrer and (most importantly), C) The audience word of mouth is all around positive.
As for those who are wondering that ’30 crore nahi hue first day par toh mazaa nahi aaya’, here are some more facts to be pondered over:
Though Ek Tha Tiger had taken a record breaking opening, the film was released on Wednesday and hence the collections dipped on Thursday and Friday, before escalating again over the weekend. On the other hand Kick (which released on Friday) eventually collected 83.85 crore over the weekend.
As things stand today, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is set to cross that total in three days flat, hence, promising a record for the opening weekend when it comes to a Salman Khan starrer.
The way film is going, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is all set to topple 33 crore mark today, which should help it achieve 60 crore in two days flat. Moreover, with word of mouth continuing to soar, anything is possible on Sunday. 40 crore perhaps? Very tough. 35 crore plus? Certainly!
As things stand today, anything between 95-100 crore weekend is a possibility here.
Now it would pretty much set the stage for how the first week’s collections for the Kabir Khan directed film would turn out to be. Currently, the record is held by Kick (164.21 crore).
Will Bajrangi Bhaijaan manage to surpass too? Well, that’s a story for another day. Currently, all eyes are on how far does the weekend go!
