The Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania music album is a good mix of ‘Desi’ and club numbers. Composed by Sharib-Toshi, the only problem with the album is that it lacks novelty, nothing you haven’t heard before. The songs are good enough to make you groove but may not be the ones that strike a chord with you.
Saturday Saturday – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
The ultimate club number ‘Saturday Saturday‘ was a disappointment in the Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania soundtrack since it is a 2 year old track that has been revised for the film. Revamped by the composer duo Sharib-Toshi, there is no novelty in the track and if you had liked the older version, this one will woo you a little more considering Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are grooving on this number. Yet, the number will be a hit for its pace and can be expected to become a regular party number with this film.
Samjhawan – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
While this Arijit Singh track will blow your mind away, the original song ‘Main Tenu Samjhawan‘ by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is unforgettable and leaves you with the question, why revise such a beautiful number. With the vocals of Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, the sanctity of the song is not lost, yet all those who enjoy classics will agree the original track sounds better. Once again, the video works in favour for this song, as the lead pair look absolutely stunning as they share some candid moments together.
Daingad Daingad – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
This peppy Punjabi number is just like one of those ‘Sangeet’ songs that are significant to Punjabi weddings. Sung by various artists, the song in spite of its fast beats fails to hold the attention. Mid way, one loses interest even though lyrically the song is a story teller. After ages, one hears Udit Narayan sing a line or two in this number and it almost takes you back to the 90s. Overall the song is a typical ‘shaadi’ song, that may not interest the rest.
Lucky Tu Lucky Me – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
‘Lucky Tu Lucky Me’ is a fast paced number. Definitely an entertaining number when it comes to lyrics. The beats are not exceptional, but the song has a good chance of becoming a hit party number just like ‘Saturday Saturday’. With electronic dance music (EDM) being the bread and butter at Pubs today, this song has potential to rock in clubs with its techno feel.
Emotional Fool – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
Sung by the composers themselves, Sharib and Toshi, this song is again catchy and upbeat, yet it does hook the listener well. The beats are almost similar to Cocktail’s ‘Second Hand Jawaani’. After a point, the song becomes repetitive and the urge to listen to the track is lost.
D Se Dance – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
Vishal Dadlani starts this song with a bang and that itself sets the mood for the song ahead. A dance number again, this one is more on the ‘Desi’ lines. It is again one of those ‘wedding’ songs that is apt for the ‘Baraat’ dance. The song itself being ‘D Se Dance’, it has all those elements that will make one get up and shake their ‘Toohs’ at least.
The Last Word – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Music Review
Overall the album lacks novelty as it does not become successful at churning out some innovative or soulful music that you would want to stick on your Ipod for years. The album in majority has dance and club numbers yet it does not lift up your spirits as much. Coming from Dharma productions, I expected the music to be aesthetically designed although unlike many other soundtracks of Dharma films, this may not stay with you for long.
