Ritesh Deshmukh recently got into the 80s mode for the song Papa Toh Band Bajaaye in Housefull 2. On the other hand Tusshar Kapoor also went for retro in The Dirty Picture though he couldn’t enjoy a song-and-dance routine there. But he won’t have much to complain now as he got to take retro to a different level in Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum with the song Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya.
“Dil Garden Garden Ho Gaya has been cutely inspired by the Austin Powers series. Today’s generation is quite familiar with the crazy antics of Mike Myers, and Tusshar and Ritesh were game when director Sachin Yardi explained the theme of the song to them. Both went completely uninhibited and wild with the song and the results are for all to see,” informs a source from Balaji.
Though the song is does warrant some naughty, crazy and sexy moves, Tusshar and Ritesh with Sarah-Jane Dias, Neha Sharma and the fifth co-star Fakhru, the pug, were put through three days of rigorous rehearsals to get the retro-style moves right.
“The idea was to make Dil Garden Garden as authentic and close to Austin Powers’ films,” says Yardi. “In fact, once the music started on the shoot, I could see my team actors dancing away even after I had said ‘cut’. Guess that’s the kind of effect the track had on all involved.”
