With no new notable release on Friday, Crew saw a jump in collections, which is a very good sign. The first week was quite good at 47.54 crores, though on Thursday, the film had collected 3.12 crores, which was less than expected since one had hoped that it would stay on in that 4 crores range right through the weekdays. Still, there was always good hope that the collections would see an upswing all over in the second weekend due to zero new competition.
This is what happened as the numbers went up to 3.75 crores*, and that’s impressive. While the open Friday factor certainly helped, it was also aided by the BOGO offer, which was announced just in the morning. This was a good decision because it resulted in added footfalls, hence leading to faster word of mouth, and that’s what would benefit the film further today and tomorrow as well. If the Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor production further manages to get into that 4.50-5 crores range today and tomorrow, then it would be really good.
Meanwhile, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon can rejoice since their film has scored a half-century at the box office in 8 days. Yes, had it happened in one week flat itself, then that would have had a different ring to it. Still, it has at least happened now, what with the film’s total standing at 51.29 crores. The light-hearted comedy cum heist thriller will certainly cross the 60 crores mark today and then add some more on Monday and Tuesday before being challenged by Eid biggies Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan on Wednesday.
