Virat Kohli is hands down one of the greatest of all time when it comes to the game of cricket. Considering his impact in international cricket, there’s no need to describe how important he is in the Indian Premier League, aka IPL. Keep reading to know more!

Ever since the IPL started, Virat has been associated with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team and hasn’t missed a single season for the team. No doubt, he’s considered one of the fittest players in the history of IPL. Almost every season, Virat has displayed his class and aggressiveness with his bat, leading the team by example.

IPL started in 2008, and since that debut season, Virat Kohli has been a key player of RCB. For those who don’t know, the Bangalore franchise paid an amount of 12 lakh to buy him. After that, he was retained by the franchise at the same amount for two more seasons. Then came the year 2011, when he saw a hike of 6800% in his salary.

In 2011, RCB decided to give a much-deserved hike to Virat Kohli and paid him a salary of a staggering 8.28 crores. Again, with the same amount, he was retained by the franchise for the next two seasons. Then, again, in 2014, he enjoyed a big increase in his salary, which went as high as 12.50 crores. If we calculate this growth from 8.28 crores to 12.50 crores, it equals a hike of 50.96%.

With a salary of 12.50 crores, RCB retained Kohli for three more seasons, and in 2018, the classy batsman witnessed the biggest hike ever in his paycheck. Yes, for the season of 2017, he was paid 17 crores, and this massive price tag remained with him for the next three years, i.e., till 2021. If we compare this amount to 12.50 crores, it’s a jump of 36%.

In 2022, Virat Kohli‘s salary was reduced to 15 crores, which is a decline of 11.76%. He was retained in 2023 with the same amount, and even in this year’s edition, he’s playing at the same price. If we compare this amount with Kohli’s first paycheck of 12 lakh, it’s still a monstrous hike of 12400%. It’s really an insane difference!
