A day after Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mahadev online betting scam case, comedian Kapil Sharma and actors Hina Khan and Huma Qureshi have been summoned in connection with the same.

For the unversed, the company named Mahadev app reportedly offers online platforms for alleged illegal betting in different live games including cricket, tennis, badminton, poker and card games. The app, which has been operational for the past four years, is promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, who hail from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The duo operates this platform from Dubai.

According to reports, a total of 100 online betting apps are on the ED’s radar. Sources told Republic World that the agency has accused the celebs of receiving money from the promoters of the Mahadev Betting App for promoting their product in the virtual (online) space.

The sources claimed that around 100 people, including celebrities and influencers are under the ED’s scanner in the case and they all will be summoned by the officials soon. According to reports, the celebrities who attended Chandrakar’s wedding, which was organised in Dubai at a reported cost of Rs 260 crore, are also included in this list.

The list of celebrities who attended the lavish wedding include Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Vishal Dadlani, Elli AvrRam, Bharti Singh, Bhagyashree, Kriti Kharbanda, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Krushna Abhishek and Sukhwinder Singh.

A senior source in the ED told News18, “The celebrities accepted a huge amount of cash as remuneration for attending or performing at the wedding. The money is the proceeds of the crime and the celebrities are liable for taking the money. There are more than a dozen celebrities who participated in the wedding and they are seen in the videos.”

This fresh summon comes just after the ‘Brahmastra’ star was asked to appear before the officials on October 6. However, Ranbir Kapoor has not been called as an accused, but only to understand his knowledge of the source of money he received while he promoted the betting app.

The source close to the development told News18, “Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned to understand the betting business transactions. At this point, he has not been summoned as accused. His questioning is important to know his knowledge about the money sources he received. It will possibly indicate the plans of the promoters and their association.”

“Ranbir Kapoor may not be part of a conspiracy but very important to understand the scam,” added the source.
