Varun Dhawan is on a roll! His movie, Badlapur, which released yesterday, took a good opening on Day 1 i.e. on its 1st Friday at the Domestic Box Office. This Sriram Raghavan directorial made a business of 7 crores (Early Estimates) yesterday, thus emerging as the 3rd Highest Opener of the year. Ranbir Kapoor’s Roy had raked in 10.40 crores on Day 1, while Akshay Kumar’s Baby had earned 9.30 crores on its 1st Friday.
The movie witnessed an average occupancy in the morning shows. But, the film picked up quite decently post the afternoon shows, and maintained a consistent growth throughout the day. The performance of the film at the multiplexes specially in Mumbai and Pune was the best, while single screens had an average performance.
Badlapur, is carrying a good word of mouth, and hence as a wide scope to pick up today. The only hindrance for the film, in its opening weekend will be the big World Cup Cricket Match on Sunday, that will affect the collections.
